Serengeti park fees at a glance
Park fees in the Serengeti are made of several parts. The conservation fee is paid per person for each 24 hours in the park. A vehicle fee applies to the car you enter with. If you sleep in a lodge or permanent camp, a concession fee is charged per person and night. Public campsites have their own nightly fee.
The amounts below are for the tariff year 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 and are given in Tanzanian shillings (TZS), including tax. The adult entry rate shown applies from 16 May 2026 to 14 March 2027. Operators often quote fees in US dollars, so ask whether a quote includes the 18 percent VAT and which exchange rate it uses.
This site is an independent guide. It does not collect fees and is not run by the park authority. You pay at the gate, through your operator or through the online reservation system.

How the fees add up
Six points that change the total.
24 hours, not calendar days
The conservation fee covers 24 hours from entry. Plan your gate time with your guide so that the periods fit your game drives.
The vehicle is a separate line
A foreign-registered safari vehicle pays a vehicle fee on top of the people in it. The weight class matters, and an open vehicle up to 2,000 kg costs more than a closed one of the same weight.
Lodge nights add a concession fee
If you sleep in a lodge or permanent camp inside the park, a concession fee per person and night applies. Public campsites use a different nightly fee.
Ndutu is charged differently
The Ndutu lodges lie in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, not in the national park. Serengeti fees do not cover it. For that area, see the Ngorongoro fees guide.
Package or itemised
A safari package may include park fees, or it may list them separately. Ask for a quote that names the fees, the number of 24-hour periods and the vehicle class.
What a Serengeti safari costs โHow to pay
The ways park fees can be settled.
At the gate
Visa and Mastercard cards and mobile money can be used for gate payments. Confirm with your operator which methods your gate takes before you travel.
Through an operator
Tour operators can pay by bank transfer. If you book a package, the operator normally settles the fees for you.
Online reservation
An online reservation system exists for park fees, run through the government payment platform. Whether you need it depends on how you enter, so ask when you book.
The park is open all year, and gates close at 6 p.m. For routes and timing, see Serengeti from Arusha.
